No One Brings You a Casserole When Your Husband Goes to Rehab

Book Review: No One Brings You a Casserole When Your Husband Goes to Rehab

“This is a story about hope. It’s a captivating story of hope in the face of shame, insecurity, anxiety, failure, addiction, codependency, marriage crises, spiritual warfare, abandonment, rejection, grief and disappointment. It’s also a story of faith, trust, persistence and forgiveness. But the most powerful message of the book is that it’s a love story. A love story between a struggling couple and their loving heavenly father. If you need a reason to be hopeful in your life, you won’t be able to put this book down.”

UnBound Me

Course Review: UnBound Me

“My husband was sober for almost 8 months before relapsing, and it’s been about a month that he has been in relapse. I panicked even more than ever before because I thought he had really beat this. That’s what led me to Unbound Me. [In the class] We have found support and peace we never knew possible!! It’s been amazing and has given us tools to walk through this. God knows we are strong enough to stand by them, and we are qualified by Him to do it. Please consider the course. It’s life-changing!”

My healing isn't over

“I didn’t find this ministry until after my husband became clean and this part of our lives together, talking with other wives of addicts, I’ve seen that my healing isn’t over and I’ve seen that is okay. God can restore anything, and this ministry taught me that. I have a beautiful baby boy and I want a peaceful and strong mother for him. Having a community like this keeps me focused on my own healing so my son has a brighter future. The resources and articles have been full of insight for my family’s continued recovery and I’m so grateful to God that I have found this place of supportive women.”

Be Still Series

Bible Study Review: The Be Still Series

“I am married (35 years), blessed with four grown children (two who currently live with us), enjoy being a mother-in-law to our eldest son's lovely wife, work as an Executive Assistant at a Corporate Office and live in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. I was so pleased to participate in the Be Still Bible Study by Leah Grey. It was just long and in-depth enough and gave me one thing to focus on each week, which I loved. I found that to be helpful in the midst of a busy life with many demands on my time. I enjoy Leah's writing and encouragement. I would recommend this Bible Study to anyone wishing to have more than a devotional and less than an in-depth study. Thank you, Leah! blessings over your ministry.”

UnBound Me

Course Review: UnBound Me

“I reluctantly bought the Unbound Me video series at the beginning of the summer with the little money I had left after my husband left on yet another month-long binge...drinking, gambling, drugs. I wasn't sure how I'd feed my three kids but knew I needed to help myself in a tangible way. It literally changed my life and was the best choice I've ever made. Gave me a new perspective, and was different than any advice I had received from friends, family, or counsellors. I was able to reflect and make sense of my life and my role as the wife of an addict. My husband is now four months sober and I do worry about him daily but in a different way. In a way that isn't harmful to me and doesn't impact my own happiness.”

Lifts you up daily

“This ministry has been a Godsend. I have been married for 7 years and my husband has struggled on and off with addiction. I have tried for years to find a safe place full of hope and resources to help my journey while being married and loving someone with the horrible disease of addiction. Previous places that I went left me feeling hopeless. This ministry lifts me up on a daily basis and encourages me through my relationship with God while guiding me through troubled waters. Leah is relatable and the women in this ministry feel like sisters/friends I never had. If your husband struggles with addiction, please join this ministry and know you are not alone and there IS HOPE.”

No One Brings You a Casserole When Your Husband Goes to Rehab

Book Review: No One Brings You a Casserole When Your Husband Goes to Rehab

“Leah’s life story is an exposé on broken hearts and broken dreams. This book should be mandatory reading for every Junior High girl! I think it could save a bunch of broken hearts if it was and help girls to live for more than the attention of a guy who doesn’t deserve it. In the book, Leah starts off as a broken, fearful, dreamer, but by the end is a strong, confident, dreamer. I love how she continues to dream BIG and publishing this book is just one more on the list of many I know she’ll accomplish. Leah’s openness, with her quirky, witty writing makes this such an easy read that you just don’t want to put it down. The book is just as interesting as the author!”

Husband is doing better than I thought

“It took me a while to realize that my husband is doing way better than I thought. He hasn't used drugs in years and I don't worry about that at all anymore. The thing I was hung up on was his drinking and that I was adamant that he never touch alcohol again. Through UnBound Me last year, I realized that controlled, non-binging consumption is okay. Ever since then, I feel God showing me that my husband truly is recovered and it's time for me to stop focusing on the addiction. It's time for both of us to learn in recovery and to find new life through Him. I feel pulled to continue to dive deeper into this relationship with Jesus and be excited about life again.”

Book Review: No One Brings You a Casserole When Your Husband Goes to Rehab

“Leah Grey is a terrific writer with a great voice and Don’t Bring Casseroles is an engaging read for sure. But more than that, it is a wonderful piece of evangelism that will bring hope to the broken and glory to Jesus Christ. If your life has been touched by addiction in any way, this book provides the comfort you seek. It’s a joy!”

Didn't realize how this affected grown up children

How has God used their habit to bless you?

“I had to separate from my husband due to his addiction. I have gone to spend time with my three children who live out of state but within hours of each other. I had not realized how much they were affected by all that has happened and I am so thankful to be here for them. As grown-up as they are, I still see them as my babies. I have also because of this being able to spend more time with my eight grandbabies. I see the Lord in everything in this mess. It is a struggle, but every time I want to give up, He lifts me up immediately. I am truly thankful for being able to lean on Him. I am also thankful for this ministry and looking forward to meeting others in this situation.”

UnBound Me

Course Review: UnBound Me

“Unbound me was by far the most valuable for me when it came to getting the help I needed to be ready for marriage counselling. So much more affordable than ongoing counselling sessions and the connections I made in the class were ongoing, on-call support round the clock. I highly suggest you await its restructure and jump on when you get the chance!”

Thank you for everything you do

“I am so glad you are still available to women in need, though your marriage seems to be in a healing place (which I am so happy for you about!). I still tune in to Habit and pray for the women there, though I am in a good place in my marriage ( thank you, God). I want you to know how much your articles and the support in Habit helped me when I needed it! I will read anything you write, but I especially like the articles about managing your own fears and expectations. Thank you for all that you do, Leah!”

thank you for talking about recovery

“I love that you're featuring articles for women with spouses in recovery along with those who are still in active addiction. When my spouse cleaned up (Praise Jesus!) I worried there wouldn't be a place or support for me in Grey Ministries, but it's evolving along with me and I am SO SO thankful!”
